High above the vast Namibian plains, where endless horizons meet dramatic skies, Aloegrove Mountain Safari Lodge offers a place of tranquillity, romance, and authentic connection with nature.
The story of Aloegrove began in 1993, when the Döman family discovered this remarkable landscape surrounded by thousands of Aloe Littoralis trees. Captivated by the beauty and stillness of the mountain, Des and Erika Döman, together with Johan and Ivy Döman, envisioned creating a lodge where guests could experience the magic of Namibia in comfort and peace.
Over the following years, that vision slowly came to life. Built with dedication, passion, and a deep love for the land, the lodge officially opened its doors in 2000 as Aloegrove Safari Lodge, known today as Aloegrove Mountain Safari Lodge.
Perched approximately 1,630 metres above sea level, the lodge overlooks sweeping savanna landscapes where wildlife roams freely and sunsets transform the horizon into a canvas of gold, orange, and crimson. As night falls, the distant calls of lions and leopards echo through the wilderness, creating an unforgettable sense of being part of something timeless and wild.
Although surrounded by nature and privacy, Aloegrove remains conveniently accessible. Located just 18 km from the B1 between Otavi and Otjiwarongo, the lodge is within easy reach of some of Namibia’s well-known attractions, including the Cheetah Conservation Fund and the iconic Waterberg Plateau.
Today, Aloegrove Mountain Safari Lodge continues to be family owned and personally managed by Johan, Ivy, CP, and Lize Döman. For the family, Aloegrove is more than simply a lodge — it is a lifelong passion and a place created to share the beauty, silence, wildlife, and romance of Namibia with travellers from around the world.
Whether you arrive in search of adventure, relaxation, wildlife encounters, or simply a quiet escape beneath African skies, Aloegrove welcomes you with warm hospitality and unforgettable scenery.
